Bird Girl was shot in Paris, close to Notre Dame cathedral. I often photograph in the landscape, focusing on encounters with nature, this image looks at others, how they engage. The girl is feeding the birds for the audience, its a regular occurrence, we saw her a few times when we passed by in the city. I imagine that she knows the appeal of the sight, it is in some ways a performance for us, but began with joy for her.
